Table Tennis Tournament for the Under 14 and Under 17 Boys team was held at St. Joseph’s College, Coonoor. Both the teams emerged as Runners up in the Finals.
Open Nilgiris District Table Tennis Tournament
The Nilgiris District Table Tennis Association had conducted three Open District Tournaments. In one of the Tournaments held at CFRC(Cordite Factory Recreation Club, Aruvankadu) the Under 19 Boys attained the following positions,

To add another feather to their cap the Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 Boys emerged triumphant in the Open Nilgiris District Table Tennis Tournament. It was held at CFRC, Aruvankadu.
Ragav of Grade XII was the Semi Finalist.
In yet another accomplishment at the Open District Tournament held at Aruvankadu, two of our students emerged triumphant.

On the 24th July the Inter-School Table tennis tournament was held at Riverside Public School – Kotagiri. Our Under 14 and Under 17 girls’ teams took part in the tournament. Five students from the Under-14 division and 3 students from the Under-17 division participated. Totally seven schools from in and around the Nilgiris district participated in the tournament. Our Under-14 team were declared as semifinalists.
The use of Chess as an educational tool has been promoted as this strategic game helps children evolve smarter in developing rational, logical thinking, wise manoeuvres and concentration.
The Inter School Chess Competition for boys was held at Stanes School, Coonoor on 25th and 26th July. Around 16 schools had participated. There were five rounds for each school. At the end of the fifth round our Under-14 team secured the fourth place and one Under-17 team secured the first place. Blitz chess, also known as Speed Chess was held. In the Under-14 division Yuvan Karthik secured the third place. The Under 17 boys team secured the First position with Ashwanth Kanna of Grade X being the individual winner.
The 71st Nilgiris District English Speaking Schools athletic meet was held from 5th September to 9th September. Students from all the English Speaking Schools throughout the Nilgiris District participated. Our St. Jude’s Super Senior Boys and Girls teams emerged as Champions. St. Jude’s Senior Boys and Senior Girls Team emerged as the first Runner up.
The Madras Regimental Centre at Coonoor witnessed an excellent display of athleticism and camaraderie among the students from all the schools in the Nilgiris District.
The athletes found themselves immersed in a world where stamina and skill were requested to attain victory.
Boys and Girls secured the Second position but in the Super Senior Division they emerged as Champions.

Cricket is a popular and much sought after game among budding cricketers.
Laidlaw Memorial School and Lawerence School hosted the Inter School Cricket Tournament. The Under 16 and 19 Boys team were Runners up.
The Nilgiris District Association organizes Open Tournaments for all age groups. The Under 16 boys team was declared as the Semi Finalists whereas the Under 19 boys team scored 184 runs in 40 overs to clinch the title against Lawerence School.
The Judian athletes displayed their prowess in the Tamil Nadu Open District Sports Meet held at the HADP ground Ooty. They accrued 8 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze in the track and field events.
Rex Higher Secondary School, Ooty hosted the Computer and EVS Quiz with an aim to offer students an opportunity to engage in team work, self- assessment and to enhance their knowledge in Information Technology.
The students showcased their brilliance by answering the questions quite confidently. Our students Ishwakk and R Deepan of Grade XII bagged the third position.
Online Programming Competition
CATHCON – An online High School Hackathon programming competition was organized by The Cathedral and John Connon School, Maharashtra from 6th to 8th October.
On 22nd August 2023, the auditorium of Stanes Anglo- Indian Higher Secondary School, Coonoor echoed with the spirit of wisdom and enlightenment as it played host to the Interschool Scripture Quiz.
This event aimed at not only imbibe the values in the teachings of the Bible but also foster a deeper understanding of its profound messages. Thoughtfully designed for students of Grades IX to XII, the Quiz drew participation from schools around the Nilgiris.
The students displayed immense enthusiasm and combated through the rounds which consisted of audio and visual clues.
Certificates and trophies were awarded to the deserving winners.
The High School team secured the third position and the Higher Secondary the fourth position.
The Inter School Tamil Debate was hosted by St. Joseph’s College, Coonoor. The event saw the participation of several schools in the Nilgiris.
The students exhibited exemplary skills in both content and delivery. In the Junior category: Joanna secured the First position and Sanjay Pranav Second place. Rithik Pranav bagged the Second place and Prathiksha, the third place in the Senior category.
In the Inter School District English Debate Joanna was adjudged as the Best Speaker.
It was a great opportunity for our students to participate in the debate conducted by ‘Voice of Youth, Nilgiris District’ held at the Government Arts College, Ooty on the Occasion of the Republic Day. The Topic was ‘India in 2047’.Joanna secured the First position.
The objective of establishing ATL Tinkering Labs in schools across India is to provide workspaces where the students can acquire innovative skills, improve critical thinking and come up with unique ideas to solve the problem our country faces.
As part of the ATL School mentoring program, The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Scientists from CSIR, Madras Complex conducted a workshop on 3rd November to motivate the students .
It was a beneficial student-scientist interactive programme.
The much anticipated 38th Annual Athletic Meet was organized on 1st July, 2023 in the Westbrooke Sports Arena. The ground became a buzzing hive of excitement for all who witnessed this sports extravaganza.
The event took on an aura of significance with the presence of our notable Chairman, Mr. P. P. Dhanarajan.
The event unfolded with the hoisting of the School Flag by the Principal Dr. Saro Dhanarajan, the Olympic Flag by our Chairman Mr. P. P Dhanarajan and the National Flag by Mr. Samjith Dhanarajan, the Executive Director.
The Annual Sports day commenced with a prayer, a hymn and an inspiring welcome speech creating an atmosphere of anticipation, team spirit and unity. Additionally, the torch relay symbolizing the message of peace, friendship, tolerance and hope added to the grandeur of the day’s event.
On 12th August the Inter School Art Competition was held at JSS Public School Ooty. Ten students from our school participated in the competition conducted under five categories.
The Lions Club of Kotagiri and Coimbatore zone organized an art competition titled ‘’Dare to Dream’’ conducted at Viswa Shanthi Matriculation School, Kotagiri on 29th November. 40 students from 4 schools participated in which the first place was bagged by Yatheesh of Grade IX and the third place by Tanav of Grade VIII.
“ Music is like a magic key that opens every heart’’
The Interschool Solo and Group Singing Competition which was held at Kotagiri Public School on 2nd November witnessed the melodious rendering of Hymns and Western tunes confidently by the students from schools around Nilgiris.
16 of our students participated in the competition, in which our students were placed Second in the Group Singing and Harsh Anand Ram secured the 3rd position in Solo Singing.
The Association of the Heads of English Speaking Schools in the Nilgiris conducts various competitions to encourage students to exhibit their talents, nurture team spirit and comradeship among fellow students. Every student vied with one another to win the coveted prize.
A Science Exhibition under the topic “Curiosity Gallery” was held in the auditorium on 24th January. The students from Grade 5 to Grade 8 exhibited their models. Working models based on Physics, Chemistry and Biology were displayed. Besides this the teachers of Maths and Science Department had set up a planetarium which was a feast to the eyes. The students presented their projects to the heads of the school. Students from the International Community School, Kotagiri and our senior campus were also invited to be a part of the exhibition.
CISCE REGIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
St. Jude’s Public School and Junior College played host for the CISCE Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Regional Volleyball Tournament at the Games Arena.
61 teams from 21 schools of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Region competed in the two- day sports extravaganza in which around 700 students participated.
100 matches under three divisions, Sub-junior, Junior and Senior of Boys and Girls were successfully conducted in 6 courts of the Westbrooke Campus, showcasing the remarkable skill of the players.
The prestigious occasion was honored by the presence of Mrs. Geetha, CEO of the Nilgiris District and Mr. Parthasarathy, CEO of Private Schools, Nilgiris on the final day.
The Under 14 category of girls attained the second Runner Up position while Boys and Girls were dominant in both the Under 17 and 19 categories to clinch the titles. Our Principal Dr. Saro Dhanrajan and our Executive director Dr. Samjith Dhanrajan appreciated the winners for their remarkable performance.
The spotters Mr. Guna, Mr. Emmanuel and Mr. Jaganathan were the spotters who selected the teams of the six categories to participate in the National Volleyball Tournament held at the same venue in October.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION
‘Breathe, Stretch, Unite’
The International Yoga Day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage individuals to incorporate this ancient practice into their daily lives. The International Yoga Day was celebrated under the guidance of our beloved Chairman, Dr. P.P. Dhanarajan and the Executive Director, Mr. Samjith Dhanarajan. The event began with a prayer to the Almighty followed by the Welcome Speech. The students were enlightened on the importance and benefits of practising yoga that work to condition the body, mind, and spirit. A group of young enthusiastic students captured the audience with their various yoga poses and asanas on 21st June, 2023 keeping in mind the theme, ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, i.e. Yoga for the welfare of all. The celebration was a testament to the profound impact of yoga highlighting the benefits it offers both mentally and physically with regular practice.
MATHS QUIZ
‘The essence of math is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple’
The Inter House Math Quiz was held on 2nd June in our school at both the campuses. Participants from each house were qualified for the competition from grade 5 to 12. It is a brief assessment used to measure the knowledge, abilities and skills acquired through education. Though challenging, it helped in enhancing their interest and to use their skills in new creative ways. It was undoubtedly a good learning experience.
ART FEST

An Art Fest was conducted on 19th May for the students of grade 1 to 8. The students exhibited their talents through paintings, pencil shadings and models. The laborious work of the passionate young artists inspired everyone.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY
‘A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way’.
Perhaps one of the most important events in the annals of a Public School, the day that sets in motion all the other days and events, is the Investiture Ceremony.
Saturday, the 13th of May, 2023, dawned to bestow the responsibilities on the deserving young members of the student body. It was the occasion where the students were prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge their responsibilities entrusted to them not only within our campus but also in the world beyond.
The most solemn part of the day’s event, the swearing in ceremony, began with the induction of the School Captains.
